Blind and Deaf

That would be me.
I am blind. Zeb has perfect vision which makes me sick. I know I should be happy for him and a part of me is but another part of me is extremely jealous. I am legally blind without correction. Honestly, if I stand 20 feet away I see the same thing Zeb sees standing 500 feet away.  Hello!!! 500 feet? Geez.
When we were first married Zeb wanted to play a game, "Let's see what Leah sees." Bad idea. When he realized I can hardly see a thing he was floored and vowed to get me lasik (?) surgery as soon as we have the money.  The sad thing is even if we do have the money I know I would wig out with someone trying to mess with my eyes. Sorry Zeb, I don't think I could do it.

I am also deaf. I started having problems with my ears when I was in junior high and high school.  I lost a lot of hearing in my right ear before I got tubes in. The tube fell out a few years ago and my ears have given me more problems.
I went to the ENT on Thursday and found out I have to get surgery in both ears. Both ears have fluid and both ear drums are retracting. Fun times. I hear out of my right ear as though I have a hunting ear plug in. In this respect Zeb and I don't make a "perfect pair."  He can be a mumbler (shocking, I know) and when you add that to my "ear plugged" hearing it makes for lots of repetition. You know, things just aren't as funny when you have to repeat it 3 times.
Thank goodness he has been very patient with me.

I must say that I am not truly blind or deaf and for that I am grateful.  Nor am I meaning to make light of people who are.
I am grateful we can correct my sight and stop the hearing loss before I am 30 and totally deaf.

So all of you in Waco, I will be back for a visit next week!

Can you believe it? I am commenting before Josh!! Actually he already read it and waited for me before he comments. Sweet hu?
I don't think that you are that hard of hearing. Josh always has to repeat what he says, but part of that is because I have the worst memory of anyone in a nursing home.;)
Thanks for coming up this weekend, it was good to see you all. Love you.

Ouch dude. That really bites. I think that you've had to have people repeat things your entire life! I hope that you don't feel like everyone is yelling at you after your "plugs" are taken out. More importantly, good thing Audrey doesn't scream like she used to in the car!!! (You'd be praying for them to put the "plugs back in"!!) I am SO FREAKING excited for the Fourth of July (but a little sad we won't see Zeb and the girls). McConnell family girls weekend (+Robby) here we come!!!! (I think Robby is a little sad Zeb won't be here, too.)

Sorry sis. Love Steph's comments and since I am too tired tonight to think, I suppose I will let Steph be funniest for one night! Know I love you and am thinking about you.
P.S. Does it make you feel any better that I can't see either? It would be really fun to play What can Leah see with ME. I'll plan on it for July. Can't wait.

I can't see and when Bryan is tired, he mumbles and I have him repeat everything (it gets a little annoying for both of us). I hope your surgery goes well.

Where is Zeb working?

Good luck. Doesn't sound like fun but hopefully things will be better after!

Good luck with the sugery! You will be in my prayers. Jasper is blind too...so I know how that is to live with someone who can't see well. I too am very grateful for correction. Love ya girl!

sorry about the ear troubles. but keep in mind, i have to constantly tell all my brothers, travis excepted, and sometimes my dad, to repeat themselves. so it might not be as bad as you perceive it to be...at least with zebby. sorry boys. i love you all, but you are mumblers!

hope when it's done you have 20/20 hearing...:)

Leah...That is a sad and a funny post all at the same time. My husband has really bad ear's...he can hear (what he want's) but he is alway having an ear infection of some sort. I feel like he needs to see a specialist to find out what his deal is. And he did do lasik also and I think you could do it.
